What data we collect

• Account data: email, password (hashed), name.
• Profile data: photo, tagline, bio, contact details, business info, skills, social links — all voluntarily provided.
• Content: posts, comments, courses, messages, ratings you create within the platform.
• Technical: IP address (for security/rate-limiting), session cookies, basic server logs.

Why we collect it

To operate the platform: authenticate you, display your profile/posts/courses to other members, deliver messages, send transactional emails, and moderate content.

Legal basis

Consent (for marketing-style emails like announcements) and legitimate interest (for operational use, security, fraud prevention).

Third parties

• Email delivery: Resend (transactional emails). Your email address is shared with them for delivery.
• Video hosting: YouTube and Vimeo embed lessons — when you watch a lesson, those services may set their own cookies and collect data per their policies.
• Fonts: Google Fonts (Plus Jakarta Sans).

Cookies

• PHPSESSID — required for login.
• bbmsg_remember — used if you tick "Remember me".
• cookie_consent — remembers your dismissal of the cookie banner.

Data retention

Active accounts: kept indefinitely while the account is active. Deleted accounts: profile is anonymised; posts and comments remain attributed to "Deleted member". Audit log entries kept for 12 months.

Your rights

You can access, correct, port, or delete your data at any time via Settings. You can also object, restrict processing, or complain to the UK ICO if you believe we've handled your data unlawfully.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be communicated via in-app announcement or email.
